Happy 2011! I hope everyone had a fun and safe New Year's Eve. Tim and I went over to Shelley's house (the preacher at Hillside) and ate some really good enchiladas and played Hand and Foot, Speed Scrabble (which I very much prefer over regular Scrabble), and Win, Lose, or Draw. It was a lot of fun.
Yesterday afternoon Tim and I went exploring. We were told of a market called Green Dragon that is open every Friday, so we went to check it out yesterday. It is a huge flea market with all kinds of things for sale, including food made by the Amish. It was pretty neat. Definitely somewhere we'll want to go back to when we actually have money to spend.
I don't particularly like to make official new year resolutions because I typically don't fulfill them. A few years ago I made the resolution to become ambidextrous, and I actually worked at it for several weeks, trying to do things with my left hand, but eventually gave up. I do have one goal (besides of course losing weight and reading my Bible) of growing out my hair and donating it to Locks of Love. I would like to be more generous and not so focused on myself but make a better effort to give to others. I think it's good to reflect on your life and think about what you need to change. We are told by God to examine ourselves, but we need to remember that we should be doing that on a regular basis, not just on the first day of each year.
So, happy new year, and I hope everyone takes time to think about how you can improve yourself, and maybe help others. God bless!

You'll have to tell about "Speed Scrabble." Sounds like fun. I like your New Years resolution. Mine is just overall self improvement and trying to be a better person physically and spiritually. I'm waiting for the right inspiration to hit me. Maybe Monday morning would be a good time to start.
Love reading your blogs as usual.
Love you
Great blog Amy! I too like your New Year's Resolutions- I have decided to take better care of my fingernails and to pick up P & C's dog poop on every walk. (Sometimes I don't if it's dark and I can't see it.) I think that's probably enough for this year... :)
Cute New Year's pic. I also want to hear about speed scrabble. Not that we ever play it anymore. We now play Ticket To Ride and/or Hand and Foot. Well, I gotta go get ready for my walk and then off to work for the first time in 2 weeks!! Arrgghh!! Actually, it's okay- I love my job and there are no kids today, so it's all good! Have a great week! Love ya!
In Speed Scrabble, each person gets 7 tiles, everyone turns them over at the same time and you try to use all the letters to make words like a miniature scrabble game right in front of you. Once someone uses all their tiles, they say "Go" and everyone draws a tile from the center and has to use it in their own puzzle. You can rearrange the letters as you need to. Each time someone is able to use all their letters they say "Go" and you just keep going until there are no more letters to draw and whoever uses all their letters first wins. Another variation we played was to stand up in front of your letters, and once someone says, "Go" everyone rotates to their left and starts playing with those letters. I hope all of that made sense! It was a lot of fun!
Oh, and there was the rule that the "Q" could be used as "Qu" if you wanted.
